The Globe Inn, Dumfries, has been named the Best Restaurant in the 2024 Dumfries & Galloway Life Awards, for the second time. The prestigious award was presented at a ceremony held at Easterbrook Hall, Dumfries, on November 8th, 2024.
The Globe Inn was commended by judges for its inspiring menu, its use of the finest local produce, and the development and inclusion of ingredients from its new kitchen garden at Comlongon Estate. The judges also praised the quality of staff training provided to and exhibited by the front-of-house team.
Jonathan Brett, Head of Cuisine, Annandale Distillery Group, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been named Best Restaurant in the Dumfries & Galloway Life Awards. This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team. We are passionate about providing our guests with an unforgettable dining experience, and we are committed to developing a team that understands the ethos of The Globe Inn. We believe that it is important to train young staff who will be able to continue to shine at The Globe, such as Ellia Faulds, who this year, in her first competition, was named Scottish Young Risotto Chef of the Year and was placed runner-up in the whole of the United Kingdom, or Sam McIntyre, who has spent time at the prestigious World Renowned Chef Academy & Culinary School, WhitePepper.”
Fraser Cameron, Head Chef at The Globe Inn, added: “This award is a fantastic recognition of the dedication and passion of our entire team. We take great pride in crafting seasonal menus that showcase the incredible produce available to us here in Dumfries and Galloway. From the freshest seafood to the vegetables grown in our own kitchen garden, every ingredient is treated with respect and care. But it’s not just about the food; the warm welcome and exceptional service provided by our front-of-house team are equally important in creating a memorable dining experience for our guests. This award truly belongs to everyone at The Globe Inn.”
This is the second award for The Globe Inn in as many months. In October, the restaurant was named Best Eating Experience in the South of Scotland Thistle Awards. The Globe Inn will now represent the South of Scotland in the national Thistle Awards later this month.
