Whisky enthusiasts, prepare to raise a glass! The inaugural Borderlands Whisky Festival is set to make its mark on Saturday, October 12th, 2024, at the historic Lockerbie Town Hall. This ground-breaking event will bring together 30 distilleries and independent bottlers from across Scotland and England, offering a unique opportunity to explore and savour the diverse flavours of whisky from the border regions and beyond.
The festival is the brainchild of the all-female team behind the award-winning Fife Whisky Festival. Driven by their passion for whisky and commitment to community, co-founders Karen Somerville and Justine Hazlehurst are excited to bring their expertise to Lockerbie.
“We’re thrilled to extend our passion for whisky to the Borderlands region,” said Karen Somerville. “This festival is not only a celebration of exceptional whisky but also a chance to support local charities and contribute to the vibrant community of Lockerbie.”
The Borderlands Whisky Festival will feature a diverse range of whisky expressions, masterclasses led by industry experts, and a welcoming atmosphere that invites everyone to enjoy the “Water of Life.”
Ben Callow, Global Brand Ambassador for Annandale Distillery, expressed his enthusiasm for the event: “We’re excited to be part of the inaugural Borderlands Whisky Festival. It’s a fantastic opportunity to share our passion for whisky with enthusiasts from both sides of the border and showcase the unique character of Annandale’s single malts.”
With convenient travel options, including direct trains from Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Carlisle, and a special £5 voucher for train travellers, the festival is easily accessible for all whisky enthusiasts.
