This unpeated expression is limited to just 257 bottles. It has a beautiful balance of the orchard fruit character you’d expect from Annandale, along with the classic toffee and sweet woodiness from the double-oaked ex-bourbon cask sourced from Woodford Reserve.
Woodford Reserve adopts a two-barrel maturation process with some of its bourbon, hence ‘Double Oak’. The first ‘Oak’ is a regular bourbon barrel, while the second barrel has staves that are toasted using a different thermal regime. This changes the nature of the oak and, crucially, its effect on the maturing spirit.
