Pastry Chef 

Salary:

£26,500 - £32,500PA, Based on experience

Hours:

40 Hours per week across 5 days – 2 days off together

Roles and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be based in the Kitchen predominantly on the pastry section however they will have the opportunity to work on all sections of the kitchen. This exciting position offers opportunity to progress into a higher role.

Responsibilities of a Pastry Chef include but are not limited to:

  • Preparing all aspects of the pastry section under guidance from the senior chefs
  • Helping with deliveries
  • Measuring ingredients accurately
  • Developing future pastry dishes
  • Petit fours production
  • Daily bread production
  • Assisting with stock rotation
  • Following high standard of health and hygiene regulations
  • Cleaning of kitchen and store areas

 

Key Requirements:

The successful candidate should have a lot of stamina, be able and eager to learn, and be passionate about food. The candidate should also be versatile and flexible, so they are able to gain experience on each section of the kitchen and meet the demands of the business.

The successful candidate should have a proven track record working within an AA Rosette or Michelin Guide awarded restaurant, or similar standard.

Any of the following qualifications are preferable:

  • City and Guilds Pastry Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent qualification)
  • SVQ/NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Professional Cookery
  • City and Guilds Diploma in Professional Cookery
  • HND/HNC In Professional Cookery
  • Basic/Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate

Applicants should be made aware there is a substantial amount of manual handling involved in the role.

Professional self-governance and pro-active work ethic needed as the candidate will in time manage a separate and fully functioning pastry kitchen.

Job Description

 

Title;                                 Warehouse and Production Assistant

Job Summary

As the Warehouse and Production Assistant you will be responsible for the successful delivery of duties within Annandale Distillery as per the below job description.  You will remain vigilant in maintaining a progressive and fully maintained warehousing/bottling environment.  You will also maintain the aesthetics of the Annandale site and be sure to deliver the highest quality in attention of detail in all areas of Annandale Distillery.  You will enhance the guest experience by providing exceptional service and be knowledgeable in all aspects of production, imparting this to both guests and staff when needed. 

Improve communication, be pro-active in preparation, have dedication in delivering consistent hospitality

 

Responsibilities

Warehousing/Bottle Plant;

  • In-house production and operation of production machinery
  • Disgorging Casks
  • Labelling
  • Filling tanks
  • Organisational Skills
  • Feeding bottles onto a production line and into manufacturing machines
  • Operating and setting manufacturing machines
  • Corking/capping bottles at pace
  • Hand labelling
  • Assist colleagues within the Production Department and the Warehouse & Dispatch Department where necessary
  • Regular checking for quality and precision of produced products
  • Work to pre-determined quality standards at all times in adherence to production procedures
  • Record production activity on company systems in place, in accordance with current policy
  • Adherence to company procedures, accreditations and standards in all areas, including quality control, security, auditing and processing
  • Assist colleagues within the Production Department and the Warehouse & Dispatch Department where necessary

 

General duties;

  • Painting of casks and stencilling
  • Facilitate and adhere to production programme as determined by Head of Production.
  • Safely implement plant cleaning schedules.
  • Take safe delivery of production deliveries.
  • Monitor and assist in the maintenance of Distillery buildings and grounds.
  • Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for visitors, staff and suppliers throughout the Distillery site, giving assistance and guidance when required.
  • General site tidiness and cleanliness.
  • Cask filling with relevant records and safe transfer of casks to warehouse and subsequent secure stowing of casks when needed.
  • As a Distillery production Operative, you may be given the opportunity to be trained in all aspects of distillery production processes.
  • You will be a designated key holder for the security system and be available at all hours after leaving work to communicate with our security team and attend site when requested to so.
  • Other duties as required.

Assist Groundsman with;

  • Weekly ladder checks
  • Weekly Fire alarm checks – Bi-Annual fire evacuations
  • Monthly fire Extinguishers checks
  • Monthly emergency lighting checks
  • Monthly first aid kit checks
  • Monthly internal and external door checks
  • Exterior work that Groundsman needs help with

 

Health & Safety

 

  • You are required at all times to carry out your duties in accordance with the prevailing health and safety legislation.
  • You are required to implement and follow all relevant safe systems of work and site rules and ensure that others do likewise
  • Protective clothing and other equipment which may be issued for your protection because of the nature of your job must be worn and used at all appropriate times.
  • Details of Annandale Distillery’s health and safety requirements are specified in the Company’s Health and Safety Policy document. You are required to read this document and to certify that you have done so
  • Ensure public safety when working

The foregoing is a list of your main duties. Whilst comprehensive, it is not exhaustive, so you may be asked to conduct other related duties.  You should expect to work a minimum of 40 hours per week according to the production schedules that are draw-up and agree by the Head of Production, to be available 5 days a week with variable start and finish times in accordance with when you are required to be in the work place to see the day to its conclusion.
