Hospitality Events Specialist – The Globe Inn, Dumfries

Join the historic and iconic Globe Inn in Dumfries, a favourite haunt of Robert Burns and a Michelin-rated destination. As part of the Annandale Distillery group, we are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Hospitality Events Specialist to focus on driving revenue growth through enhanced corporate and group bookings, establishing The Globe Inn as a premier event and dining venue.

Responsibilities:

  • Sales Leadership: Lead the sales initiative by identifying new business opportunities and expanding market presence. Develop a strategic sales plan that targets corporate clients and groups, leveraging the unique heritage and setting of The Globe Inn to attract premium engagements.
  • Event Planning & Execution: Conceptualise, plan, and execute a variety of events, managing all logistical aspects such as venue setup, catering, AV requirements, and entertainment.
  • Client Acquisition and Relationship Management: Actively pursue new client relationships while nurturing existing ones. Engage directly with corporate executives and event planners, understanding their needs and presenting tailored solutions that highlight The Globe Inn’s unique offerings.
  • Proposal Development and Negotiation: Craft compelling proposals and negotiate contracts to secure event bookings, focusing on creating competitive and attractive packages that meet client needs while optimising revenue.
  • Marketing Collaboration: Collaborate with the marketing team to create targeted campaigns that promote The Globe Inn’s event capabilities. Utilise both traditional and digital marketing strategies to enhance visibility and attract new business.
  • Budget Management: Manage event budgets, ensuring profitability. Monitor expenditures and adjust strategies to maximise financial outcomes.
  • Vendor and Supplier Coordination: Select and manage relationships with vendors and suppliers to support event success and cost-effectiveness.
  • Compliance and Regulations: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and licensing requirements to maintain high standards and avoid legal issues.
  • Technology Utilisation: Employ advanced event management software to streamline operations, track sales progress, and enhance client engagement.
  • Post-Event Analysis: Evaluate the success of events based on financial performance and client satisfaction, using insights to refine sales strategies and improve future event execution.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven track record in sales and event planning within the hospitality industry, with a strong emphasis on developing corporate and group business.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of persuading and influencing decision-makers.
  • Organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make decisions under pressure.

Reporting Structure:

  • Reports directly to the Head of Place Marketing, Tourism Development & Events.
